Updated 20 August 2026 · GetClinicTurkey Editorial · General planning information, not personal medical advice.

A polished Instagram page, hotel transfer and thousands of reviews can still leave the most important questions unanswered: who will treat you, why each tooth needs treatment, what material will be used and who helps after you fly home.

Use these 12 questions before paying a deposit to any dental clinic, coordinator or agency in Turkey.

Save this rule: verify three separate things—the legal provider, the treating clinician and your individual treatment plan. A clinic can exist legally while a proposed plan is still unsuitable for you.

The short answer: Before paying a deposit, verify three separate things: the legal provider, the treating dentist and your tooth-by-tooth treatment plan. Confirm authorisation independently, request named materials and diagnostics, and obtain the deposit, refund, aftercare and complaint terms in writing.

1. Who is the dentist performing each procedure?

Ask for the full name of the dentist who will prepare teeth, place implants or perform surgery—not only the coordinator or clinic brand. For complex work, ask about the clinician’s relevant training and who covers the case if the named dentist is unavailable.

2. Is the provider currently authorised for international patients?

The UK FCDO advises patients to research independently and points to the Turkish Ministry of Health’s approved-provider pathway through HealthTürkiye. Check the legal clinic name and address; a marketing company’s trading name may be different from the healthcare provider that carries responsibility.

3. Can I have an itemised, tooth-by-tooth plan?

Every proposed tooth should have a number, diagnosis and procedure. “Hollywood Smile package” or “full-mouth implants” is not enough. The plan should distinguish veneers from crowns, temporary from final teeth and implant fixtures from abutments and crowns.

For a missing tooth, ask whether a conventional, adhesive or implant-supported design is proposed and why. Our dental bridge Turkey guide explains unit pricing and the healthy-neighbour trade-off.

4. What alternatives and no-treatment option were considered?

Informed consent includes reasonable alternatives. For cosmetic work, ask about whitening, orthodontics, bonding or fewer restorations. For missing teeth, ask about bridges, dentures or no immediate replacement where clinically relevant. A sales deadline is not a diagnosis.

5. Which materials and implant systems will be used?

Request the manufacturer, product line and restoration material in writing. “German implant,” “premium zirconium” and “porcelain” are descriptions, not traceable product details. Ask whether the quoted system is supported by dentists in your home country and request product labels after surgery.

6. Which diagnostics happen before irreversible work?

Ask what examination, gum assessment, X-rays, CBCT, photographs, scans and bite records are required. Remote photos can help initial discussion but cannot replace the in-person examination. Agree that a changed diagnosis produces a revised plan and fresh consent—not automatic extra drilling.

For first-time endodontic treatment or retreatment, also ask whether the named clinician is a general dentist or endodontist. Our root canal treatment in Turkey guide lists the records and cost lines to request.

7. Who performs surgery, sedation and laboratory work?

Clarify which tasks happen inside the clinic and which are outsourced. Ask who places implants, who administers sedation, where the laboratory is, how many try-ins are planned and whether the treating dentist personally checks fit and bite.

For a practical example of the questions a nervous patient should ask, see our Marmaris dental anxiety and sedation guide, including who provides the service and who looks after you afterwards.

8. Is the quote genuinely complete?

List examinations, scans, extractions, grafting, root treatment, sedation, medication, temporary work, final restorations, hotel, transfers and review visits. Mark every item included or excluded. Our price calculator helps identify missing categories before you compare totals.

9. How many visits and trips does treatment require?

Ask for the clinical sequence, not only the hotel nights. Implants commonly have a healing phase measured in months. Crowns and veneers need laboratory time and bite adjustments. A departure flight immediately after final fitting removes the correction buffer.

10. What happens if the plan changes after examination?

Get the process for revised costs, consent and refusal in writing. You should be able to pause and consider major changes. Ask what happens to your deposit if the in-person findings make the original treatment unnecessary, unsuitable or more expensive.

11. What does the guarantee actually cover?

A guarantee may exclude travel, accommodation, local diagnostic fees, gum disease, smoking, trauma, maintenance failures or work by another dentist. Ask who decides whether a failure qualifies and where remedial treatment occurs. Read our full Turkey dental guarantee and aftercare guide.

12. What are the deposit, refund and complaint terms?

Confirm the legal recipient, amount, currency, payment method, rescheduling deadline, refund triggers and complaint route. Use a traceable payment method, obtain an invoice and save the plan and messages outside the chat app. Do not send money to an unrelated personal account without a clear legal explanation.

Pause if you hear: “This price expires tonight,” “every tooth needs a crown,” “we guarantee lifetime results,” “the dentist will be assigned when you arrive,” or “the written plan comes after payment.” Urgency may suit a sales funnel; it does not improve diagnosis.

How to read clinic reviews without being fooled by the average

Start with recent reviews and filter for your treatment—not airport transfers or coordinator friendliness. Look for detail about diagnosis, temporaries, bite adjustments and aftercare months later. Read negative reviews for repeated themes and the clinic’s response. Sudden bursts, nearly identical phrases and reviews focused only on hospitality deserve closer attention.

GetClinicTurkey’s Verified label is intentionally narrow: a public Google profile with at least a 4.5 rating and 100 reviews. It is not medical approval. See exactly how we verify clinic profiles.

The document pack to obtain before travel

The records to bring home

Request scans and X-rays in usable form, treatment notes, implant labels and component details, prescriptions, invoices, final material details, laboratory information where available, aftercare instructions and emergency contacts. These records matter if a dentist at home must assess you.

Direct clinic or agency?

An agency can make communication and logistics easier, but it does not replace informed consent or clinical accountability. Establish which legal entity takes payment, which clinic delivers care and who owns the complaint. Our direct clinic versus agency guide compares the models.

A simple decision scorecard

Area Good evidence Weak evidence
Provider Current official authorisation and matching legal details Logo, follower count or verbal assurance
Clinician Named treating dentist and clear role Only a coordinator or brand ambassador
Plan Diagnosis, tooth numbers, alternatives and stages Package name and smile mock-up
Materials Traceable system and written specification “Best quality” or country-of-origin claim
Aftercare Written coverage, exclusions, contact and remedy “Message us anytime”
Payment Invoice, legal recipient and refund terms Unexplained personal transfer and deadline pressure

Frequently asked questions

How do I know whether a dental clinic in Turkey is legitimate?

Confirm the provider's current authorisation through official Turkish health-tourism channels, identify the treating dentist, obtain an itemised clinical plan and verify the clinic address independently. Do not treat a social-media profile or review score as a licence check.

Is the GetClinicTurkey Verified badge a medical endorsement?

No. It currently means the public Google profile has at least a 4.5 rating and 100 reviews. It is a transparent directory threshold, not regulatory approval, a clinical audit or an outcome guarantee.

Should I pay a dental deposit before an examination?

Clinics may request a booking deposit, but you should understand the refund and rescheduling terms, recipient, currency and what happens if the in-person examination changes the plan. Use a traceable payment method and keep the invoice.

What should be included in a Turkey dental quote?

It should state tooth numbers, diagnoses, procedures, materials or implant systems, temporary and final work, imaging, possible extras, number of visits, package inclusions, exclusions, total price and aftercare terms.

Can I trust Google reviews for a clinic?

Reviews are one signal. Examine recency, detail, treatment type, repeated wording, owner responses and negative-review patterns. A high score does not show whether a specific treatment plan is necessary or well designed.

What is a red flag before dental treatment abroad?

Pressure to pay immediately, refusal to name the treating dentist, no tooth-by-tooth plan, vague materials, guaranteed outcomes, no alternative discussion, unclear refund rules and aftercare that exists only in verbal messages are important warning signs.
